Ours Objectives

During the Stay

To ensure safety and confidentiality :

  • Offer a safe living space enabling women of all origins, ethnic and religious backgrounds to clarify their situation and find the solutions best suited to their reality;

  • Help them counter the impact of domestic violence on the many dimensions of their lives, through the support of a feminist intervention focused primarily on restoring their physical and psychological integrity and defending their rights;

  • Support them in their parental role, helping them to understand and counter the impacts of domestic violence on the quality of the mother-child bond, and on their health and development;

  • Provide children in shelters with a safe, caring environment and intervention adapted to their age and needs;

  • Raise awareness of the problem of domestic violence and children exposed to it among social and legal workers.

After the Stay

To prevent post-separation violence :

  • Support and accompany women as they pursue the steps they began during their stay;

  • Promote their access to L'Escale's external socio-legal support service;

  • Support mothers and their children by referring them to a specialized service that helps children exposed to domestic violence;

  • Make social and legal workers aware of the existence and prevention of post-separation violence.

Our Intervention Philosophy

Our intervention philosophy is based on our mission to protect women who are victims of domestic violence and their children, as well as on the values we prioritize, such as:

  • Respect and acceptance of people for who they are, what they experience and the choices they make;

  • Empathy, which enables us to perceive their feelings and listen to their needs;

  • Mutual support and working in partnership;

  • Women's right to respect, autonomy and freedom of choice;

  • Staff commitment to the mission of L'Escale pour Elle and to the fight against domestic violence and post-separation violence.
